31st Annual Convention & Religious and Political Hall of Fame Awards Banquet
Los Angeles, CA (August 26, 2009) – On October 2-4, 2009 political and religious dignitaries, business executives and community leaders will join together to explore economic development, political literacy and health care issues. The Black American Political Association of California (BAPAC) will celebrate its 31st Anniversary hosting a series of workshops, a luncheon, and an awards banquet culminating with a Sunday prayer breakfast held at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, 506 South Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA.
Invited Guest Speaker Congresswoman Barbara Lee, a BAPAC 2009 Legend, joins the ranks of Attorney General Jerry Brown, UC Regents Chair Richard Blum, Bishop T. Larry Kirkland and the Honorable Gwen Moore BAPAC honorees. Celebrated Actor/Director Danny Glover will orchestrate the Religious and Political Hall of Fame Banquet, as the Master of Ceremonies during the evening program. BrittneyNicole, is the featured vocalist who richly complements the evening’s festivities with a fresh, new sound.
BAPAC State Vice Chair and legal advisor, Thomasina Reed, Esq., a distinguished attorney, educator and community activist, is bestowed the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Luncheon on October 3rd.
The 2009 Convention agenda includes workshops on Health Care Disparities, Mental Health Disorders, Changing the Paradigm in Education, the Housing Crises and Utilization of Public Resources. “The Providence Effect”, an inspirational documentary about the successful Providence St. Mel School will also be critiqued.
BAPAC is a 501 (c) 3 Non-Profit Organization who’s mission is to identify, document and develop the political resources necessary to achieve the education, economic and cultural goals of African-Americans across the State of California.
BAPAC is dedicated to improving the quality of life of residents in communities of color. Percy Pinkney, BAPAC State President, at the helm of BAPAC for over a decade, is at the forefront of BAPAC’s fight for parity and equal justice.
